Circle High School will begin a new chapter in its football history, as Logan Clothier has accepted the position of head football coach for the Thunderbirds. Clothier was officially hired at Monday night’s USD 375 Board of Education meeting.

Clothier, a 2016 graduate of Emporia State University, was a wide receiver for the Hornets from 2011-15.   He served as the head junior varsity and varsity wide receiver coach for Topeka High last season.

“We’re thrilled to have Logan join our staff,” said Circle Principal Todd Dreifort. “We believe he possesses all the intangibles that will build a successful program.”

In addition to his coaching duties, Clothier will teach physical education and strength and conditioning classes at CHS.

“I’m excited for this opportunity,” said Clothier. “I was impressed with the school, the community, and the first-class facilities when I visited the school. My priorities will be introducing myself to the players, getting to work in the weight room, and developing fundamentals this summer. Laying the foundation through high expectations and commitment will be the standard.”

“I was a part of a great program at Emporia State. Coach (Garin) Higgins ran a first-class program that was all about family. I grew as a person and player, and truly understood the meaning of ‘team’. I gained an understanding of how to come to work with an attitude to consistently get better every day. I was also a part of a tremendous program at Topeka High School as both a player and coach. The program Coach (Walt) Alexander built at Topeka High is second-to-none. His ability to build relationships with players and his tireless work ethic are just a few reasons why they are one of the top programs in the state of Kansas.”

The Thunderbirds will have a variety of workouts and camps this summer, but their first action under Clothier will come on Sept. 1 when the T-Birds host Maize South.
