The human emotions are used every day for simple daily reasons. You have sad, happy, angry, upset, calm, excited, serious, and last but certainly not least, a mixture of all the emotions. Music sometimes provokes this mixture of emotions. There are all kinds of different music to fit different personalities. Some examples of music are: classical, reggae, rock, hip-hop, jazz, alternative, swing, country, classic rock, and R&B, etc. These ten different styles of music are only a few of very many. The question is, do human emotions expand and evolve and become affected by one’s favorite genre of music?

Veronica Cecchini a sophomore currently attending Andover schools was interviewed to see if she was emotionally affected by music.

“Because I love the specified music I want to hear it louder.” says Cecchini.

It seems as though music is an intrical part of our lives. We are often moved by the music we listen to, based upon the emotions we emit. Music for most of us is a very emotional experience simply because of the way our brain works. We use our senses to let our brain know that we are enjoying the things we are hearing. We use our sense of hearing to listen to music, and sometimes people turn their music really high because that is all they want to hear and sometimes it can damage your hearing.

Krystal Cavender, a sophomore at Circle High School, said, “I think people turn their music up loudly because that’s all they want to hear, like when a song comes on that I enjoy, I don’t want to hear anything besides that song.”

Music can be intoxicating for some. Cavender’s favorite band goes by the title of Panic at the Disco and this band’s genre is alternative music and she listens to Panic at the Disco whenever she is sad, at school, sometimes during holidays, and basically anytime. Music is one of the things that we become attached to. Our music has a hold on our emotional status thus making it appealing to the ear.

In some form we all like listening to music, whether it is classical, reggae, rock, hip-hop, etc. We all have our preferences of music and sometimes we agree with other types of music and sometimes we don’t. Music is a part of everyday life and we must all realize this. Music is intrical because it helps us learn better, faster, and more efficiently. The question answered is, can human emotions become expanded and evolved and affected by one’s favorite genre of music? The answer is yes, because every one of us has our favorite style of music and we all are attached and have all been emotionally affected by music.
